MkXVI Spitfire

This simple study of a MkXVI Spitfire was composed to give a feel of speed and power as this, the most famous of fighters, climbs above a majestic cloudscape. Note how I have shown the pilot leant forward in the cockpit to portray determination and grit.

These photos show the aircraft with no identifying markings, but I painted them later in the markings of the father of the Australian Spitfire Association’s Chairman Geoff Zuber at the request of the client.

Oil paint on canvas 20x24 inches.
