Evening Air Test

The Lancaster is forever synonymous with the RAF's assault on Nazi Germany. The long, cold, dangerous missions into the enemy heartland were carried out at huge loss by the young crews. Prior to these missions crews were required to ensure the serviceability of their aircraft by performing an air test depicted here. Note the still vigilant crew on the alert for a rare 'intruder' out to cause trouble.
